Serena Williams Gives Birth to Baby Girlby Sonia Amoako Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 .
It’s a girl! Serena Williams has given birth to her first child.
The tennis superstar and her fiance Alexsis Ohanian, who is the co founder of Reddit, have reportedly welcomed a little girl weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces.
Shortly after the news broke, messages started pouring in of course of social media. Beyonce being one of many. The singer gave birth to twins Sir Carter and Rumi in July posted to Instagram a stunning image of Serena from her Vogue shoot.
According to reports which started the speculation she was to deliver soon, the Grand Slam champion checked into hospital last Wednesday, with the entire floor being cleared for her. Serena and her husband to be Alex announced the pregnancy news back in April. The couple revealed months ago that they would keep the gender of the baby a surprise until birth.
With news of the baby being a girl, could she follow in her mother and Auntie Venus’s footsteps and become a tennis ace?!
Earlier this year, Serena said that she was ‘nervous’ about giving birth, sharing: ‘I’m nervous about childbirth. I’m not a spring chicken. The one thing I really want is an epidural, which I know a lot of people are against, but I’ve had surgeries galore, and I don’t need to experience any more pain if I can avoid it.’
She also said that she thinks having a baby will make her a ‘real woman’, ‘I am about to be a real woman now, you know?’ ‘It’s going to be something incredibly impressive to go through … I don’t think watching birthing videos helps. I actually think it makes it worse. Having a baby, nothing is guaranteed. I am looking forward to becoming a mother and coming back to the courts already. I’m always thinking about what’s next: the next victory, the next trophy… I intend to keep exercising for as long as possible while pregnant. I want the baby to be healthy and for that you need a healthy life. Also, when I come back to tennis it’ll be better if I’ve kept as fit as possible all the way through the pregnancy rather than having to lose a lot of weight afterwards in order to get fit again. Eating healthily is a must, but being healthy is a lifestyle.’
We love that! Ambitious woman, still thinking of what to achieve next in her career. And we’re sure the snap back will be amazing.
Congrats to Serena and Alexsis.
