Paris Fashion Week: Fenty x Puma SS17by Sonia Amoako Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 .
Rihanna debuted her second Fenty x Puma collection for Paris Fashion Week.
The sporty sexy line was in girly soft pastel tones. Quite innocent colour palettes yet a very fierce collection. The pieces showed that she can turn a sweet shade like bubblegum pink and lilac into something quite edgy. Upon announcing that she would be hosting her show during PFW she said, “It’s a dream for me to be able to present my second collection in Paris. I approached this season very differently and felt the theme and concept was best suited for one of my favorite cities, Paris.”
Rihanna took a different approach with a very sweet collection in soft shades of pistachio green, white, lavender, baby pink, and a chocolate brown. Pieces included hoodies worn with one sleeve out, jumpsuits dropped down to the waist and laced up corsets- which upped the sultry appeal. Her inspiration being a streetwear take on fashion from the 18th century. Beforehand the singer said, “I am really excited about this collection as it’s very fun and light. Showing in Paris was the perfect backdrop as I pulled a lot of inspiration from France, Marie Antoinette and The Palace of Versailles specifically. Mixing athletic wear with regal touches was a challenge, and I hope everyone loves the results. I cannot wait to wear this collection.”
It’s definitely. We would describe it as classic with a touch of street.
In terms of accessories that the models wore, there were netted colour coordinated baseball caps, huge bows (worn hips like a fancy pack or slung across their chest), fans with “Puma” stamped across it and pearls.
All in all, we like how creative she was with the design process and where she pulled her ideas from. We look forward to seeing the next collection.
