Chanel Iman Channels Prince For Harper’s Bazaarby Sonia Amoako Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 .
Chanel Iman appears on the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar Serbia magazine.
The model channels Prince in his signature glam rock phase. The legendary singer sadly passed away last month ages 57.
In the story and covers shot by Joshua Jordan with art direction led by Christopher Sollinger, Chanel appears in Prince’s infamous tousled curls and headband, whilst rocking a deep plunge sequinned dress with lace underwear, suspenders and metal accessories.
When it came to hair and make up, Iman looked to her own personal inspiration, her mother. Joshua said, ‘She showed us pictures of her mum in the Afro, and when she put it on, it was as if we moved into the future and flashed back to the past.’
Make up artist Yacine Diallo was not only inspired by Prince, but also the string women in his life, ‘The story was also a tribute to all the talented, beautiful, and sexy women like Vanity 6, Sheila E., Wendy, and Lisa he had on stage with him throughout his career. Chanel Iman was perfect to interpret this sensuality and freedom that always inspired me while growing up watching Prince videos and listening to his music.’
